Importing Tasks
Use this option to import tasks from another project when the project is created.
1. Click on the drop down listing to display all of the projects from all of the companies that you have permission to access.
2. Select the required project and when you save the project detail, the tasks will be imported. Other tasks that have been entered will not interrupt the import process.
Assigned User Names
Importing tasks is for importing the tasks only - not for setting up the assignments and automatically duplicating those across multiple projects. Therefore, assigned user names / assignments are not imported. Instead, all tasks are automatically assigned to the name of the user that is importing the tasks.
Dates
Dates are imported exactly as they are entered in the previous project. As a result, they import in relation to the start date of the project – which can present a problem if the dates do not line up. For example, if the tasks imported had start dates three days from the start date of the original project, then they will be imported into the new project three days from its schedules started date, which may or may not be the dates that are actually needed for the project. Therefore it’s important to re-check assigned dates for your project tasks if you use the import feature.
