New Log (Tab & Button)

Logs are the method used to enter work performed on a tasks. There can be as many logs entered as needed and the details of that work performed, hours, dates and progress of completion are all entered here.

  • Logs can be edited clicking the "Pencil / Notepad" icon in the far left column of the task log list.
  • Logs can be deleted by clicking the "Garbage Can" icon in the far right column of the task log list.

Details

  • Date: The date that the work pertaining to this log entry was completed. The default will be todays date and it can be modified by clicking calendar icon.
  • Progress:  Defaults to the last value entered in a previous log within the task. Update the value as needed to reflect the percentage of task completion.
  • Hours Worked:
    • Static time entry: Used to enter the number of hours worked against that single log entry.
    • Start / Reset: Clicking "Start"  will start a timer feature. It will then show you the time elasped and show a "Stop" button to stop the timer. Clicking start again will append that additional time to the amount already logged. Once "Update Task" is clicked and the log is saved re-opening the log or while re-editing the log you can not use the "Start" button to add additional time to the log. (Note: closing your browser will also stop the timer and the value will be lost.)
  • Cost Code: Enter a relevent code to categorize the type of work for accounting. The drop down shows cost codes that are company specific and may be pre-defined in the Administration Panel under "Billing Codes". The box to the right can be used to enter your own custom alphanumeric code.
  • Task End Date: This value defaults to the original end date established for the task. This date can be modified to indicate that the tasks completion date has changed.
  • Summary: Defaults to the current task name. Can be edited by typing over the default value if another description is needed for reporting purposes.
  • Reference: Optional value to categorize the log entry.
  • URL: Optional web address value.
  • E-mail Log To: By checking any box available an e-mail will be sent to those individuals with the information from the log entry and a link back to the log to review. A record of the date, time and recipients of the e-mail will also be added to the task log. 
    • Task Assignee: When checkmarked every user that has been assigned to the task will be e-mailed.
    • Task Contact: When checkmarked every user that has been assigned as a contact for the task when it was created will be e-mailed.
    • Project Contacts: When checkmarked every user that has been assigned as a contact for the project when it was created will be e-mailed.
    • Extra Recipients: Enter any e-mail address you would like a copy of the updated log entry to be sent to.
  • Description: An explanation of the work performed. A value must be entered to be able to save the log.
  • Problem: When checked, this task will be highlighted in red in the task log summary as a flag that there is a problem. It also will be highlighted in red in the "View Project" project screen and a small "!" icon will appear in the "New Log" column. The "!" problem icon will also appear in the main Projects screen in the "P" column.
